ADS-B explained

ADS-B is a modern approach to position reporting. Providing various benefits, it’s part of the FAA’s Next Gen Airspace Overhaul Program.

IMSAFE PAVE

It is important for every pilot to evaluate his/her self, the aircraft, the environment, and not allow external pressures to sway his/her decision.

Full Down Helicopter Auto-rotations

We practice auto rotations for the day it really happens. Some pilots may be lucky enough to never experience a real emergency. I have experienced 7 real full down autorotations

Pressure & Density Altitude

You must be able to figure pressure and density altitude in order to figure out your in ground effect and out of ground effect hover ceilings. Remember that pressure altitude will be shown on the altimeter when you put 29.92 in the kollsman window.

Stuck Pedal

A stuck pedal in a helicopter means that the linkage is jammed or broken that goes between the pedals and the tail rotor. This type of emergency requires a slide on landing. Do not attempt an autorotation with this type of failure.

Loss of Tailrotor Thrust

A mechanical problem that causes a loss of tailrotor thrust will be accompanied with abnormal vibrations or noise usually. You must enter an autorotation to get rid of the torque and land without bringing the power back in.
